My name is Karen Schweitzer
I’m a proud Air Force wife and homeschooling mom of three wonderful children. Baking has been one of my greatest passions for the past eight years—a craft that began as a creative outlet and grew into a purpose-driven business. What started in my home kitchen has evolved into Beyond the Grain, a home-based bakery that reflects both my personal journey and commitment to wholesome living.
After eight years of baking, I took a leap of faith and opened my own gluten and wheat-free bakery in February 2025, inspired by a desire to create treats that everyone could enjoy safely. Just a few months later, in May 2025, I was officially diagnosed with celiac disease—an experience that deepened my commitment to crafting food that is both safe and nourishing. I personally check every ingredient label to ensure quality and transparency because I believe food should be as honest as it is delicious.
My mission goes beyond serving baked goods; it’s about providing comfort, inclusion, and joy for those who often feel left out of traditional bakeries. By 2026, I plan to make my bakery completely artificial dye-free, continuing my dedication to wholesome, real ingredients that support healthier lifestyles. Balancing motherhood, homeschooling, and entrepreneurship is no small task, but it fills me with gratitude and purpose every single day.
